The Communications Residential
College (CRC), also known as East Fairchild, is ideally
located for
students in Medill and the School of Communications. Our three-story
building houses 109 residents and includes a suite for every 8-10
people. CRC has somlear, our dorm attracts residents who are charming, outgoing,
intelligent, and quirky.
Where is CRC?
Our dorm is located at 1855 Sheridan Road, in the southeast part of
campus. We're just south of Kresge and Crowe, west of Fisk, north of
1835 Hinman, and east of the Rock.
From CRC, it's a very short
walk to downtown Evanston, Norris University Center, and the library.
We are also quite close to most RTVF and Medill classes.

Why live in CRC? And
what's up with the residential college thing?
We have the best residents, facilities, and events that NU has to
offer. Plus, living in a residential college affords students a wealth
of opportunities. Our faculty masters join us weekly for all-college
meetings - our assistant master even works out of the dorm, and he is
always open to chatting.
We
have a section of the 1835 Hinman dining
hall (just across the street) set aside just for us. There, our faculty
masters and fellows often join us for lunch or dinner. We also have
small, casual talks called firesides hosted by faculty
members. CRC offers tutorials, courses for credit taught in
the
dorm for dorm
members only. Enrollment is usually 5-10 students.
Facilities include a top-notch
screening room (HD project with a Blu-Ray player), an HDTV lounge, a
darkroom, and a radio station. We even have a Wiki!
Who lives in CRC?
There are a little over 100 male and female residents plus two
community assistants (CA's). While most residents have an interest in
communications, CRC welcomes everyone, regardless of interests or
major. This year, many of our CRC-ers are in Medill, one-quarter in
the School of Communications (with majors ranging from theater to RTVF
to communications studies) and one-quarter in WCAS, SESP, or McCormick.
What are suites?
While all bedrooms are along the main hallway of each floor, there is
also an open lounge, or suite, with couches, chairs, and tables for
each group of five to six rooms.
Each of these suites has a name. 1-Blue is a suite on the first floor,
for instance. Suites have different personalities each year, depending
on who lives there. Suites are a source of pride for CRC residents.
